That is what it is about

Lester is not a lucky man. At 35, he still lives with his parents, hates his job, his girlfriend has dumped him - and now someone has implanted a bomb in his neck. To avoid being killed, he has to commit terrible crimes for his mysterious employers, who are controlling more and more people and slowly turning the world into a bizarre, delusional slaughterhouse. Oh, and there's one more thing: Lester is a puppet. Time to find the puppet master!

What you should know

Wild free jazz sounds congenially guide us into a weird world. It looks like ours, but its inhabitants are life-size dolls. With really creepy rubber faces, on the one hand cold and lifeless, on the other hand always terribly expressive. Not only when they die mercilessly gory, as often happens here. Sounds strange? Wait for the alien-human hybrids maturing in pumpkin-shaped eggs. ABRUPTIO is uniquely disturbing. With Sid Haig in his final role.

Direction

ABRUPTIO is Evan Marlowe's third feature-length film - its predecessor HORROR HOUSE, however, was made 13 years ago. In the meantime, the Californian, who was born in the 70s, has not only made dozens of shorts and worked on two anthology films, but has also published several novels and CDs. It is hardly surprising that he is responsible for the screenplay, direction, cinematography and editing of ABRUPTIO, which has been showered with 23 awards and whose cast includes Robert Englund and Jordan Peele.
