That is what it is about

It is 1957, and all is still well with the world in the American town of Marlow. But not for long, because the good citizens of the tobacco-growing region are about to receive visitors from far and wide. They have sharp teeth - and are keen to wipe us out. Their latest achievement is supposed to help: an elixir that makes them immune to crosses. And, as a side effect, turns the bitten into sun-resistant zombie mercenaries. What else can save us? Lots of cigarettes, whisky and rock'n'roll, of course!

What you should know

As if Ed Wood and Mel Brooks had directed a Troma movie together in the 50s! A loving parody of the B-movies of yesteryear in elegant black and white. With a Bela Lugosi revenant in the flesh. With plastic bats on thick wires and Playmobil spaceships. With quite drastic gore effects. With the most incredible brawl, er, kicking ever. And with a literally awesome cameo by Lloyd Kaufman. Irresistibly cult - have a tasty fag first!

Direction

Michael Stasko is a film professor at the University of Windsor, Ontario. And as such, he is exactly the right person to realize material like this: What could easily have become a tired revue of numbers in the wrong hands turns out, under his knowledgeable direction, to be a respectful but screamingly funny and original tribute to the horror/sci-fi flicks of the past, which were not always successful but always made with heart and soul. With a dozen festival awards in the bag.
