That is what it is about

Artik lives a secluded life in the backcountry with his family and goes about his daily business: cultivating sunflower fields, pushing around foster children and collecting comics. Together with a foster son, he sets out in search of the ultimate hero. Any means will do. But the supposed heroes usually show little stamina in Artik's clutches... When Kar sets out to help one of the children, he ends up on Artik's list. Let's see what the hero can do.

What you should know

Tom Botchii was no longer in the mood for classic horror films. Again and again he was confronted with the same themes, ideas and stereotypical schemes. Time to change something! he said and made ARTIK. He himself calls his debut film a "thriller in horror costume" and couldn't be more right. This aesthetically extremely nasty piece is rough, insanely dark and, in the person of Jerry G. Angelo, of a masculine physicality that is tantamount to a testosterone thunderstorm.

Direction

Up-and-coming director Tom Botchii Skowronski wants to redefine the horror genre and not be pigeonholed. After several short films (including NOVAK, 11 MINUTES), he delivers his feature film debut with ARTIK, for which he also wrote the screenplay. Skowronski is fascinated above all by brutal, personal stories. In doing so, he digs deep into his own box of experiences. His professional background in documentaries and music videos naturally serves him well.
