That is what it is about

Even behind the most innocent facade, pure evil can lurk: When Julia begins providing home care for Evelyn, who has dementia, she has no idea what dark secrets the woman is hiding. But when the old lady begins a prayer that is definitely not directed at God, and Julia discovers notes filled with occult symbols, it becomes clear to her that something is seriously wrong here. Left to fend for herself with no way out, she faces a fight for survival against demonic forces.

What you should know

Intense, immersive, and downright spooky: While BURY THE DEVIL’s story of possession and exorcism may not seem particularly unusual, its execution certainly is. The film unfolds in real time, with a camera that’s almost constantly in motion and a complete absence of visible cuts. This plunges us right into the action and, as soon as things start to escalate, creates a panic-inducing, gripping pull. Arguably the purest horror film in this year’s lineup.

In addition to his debut feature *MOM*, Canadian director Adam O’Brien has gained recognition in particular for several award-winning short films that later became part of anthologies such as *NIGHTMARE RADIO* and *ASYLUM*. His new work is an ambitious project conceived as a trilogy. The second installment, ORIGIN, is already in pre-production. BURY THE DEVIL, produced by Benoit Beaulieu (TURBO KID) among others, celebrated its world premiere on March 6 at FrightFest Glasgow.
