That is what it is about

For Anne and Paul Sacchietti, nothing is as it once was after the tragic death of their son. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, they try to start a new life in a secluded house in the countryside. But soon after their arrival, the couple witness supernatural phenomena. With the help of friends, they want to get to the bottom of the matter and discover that whatever is lurking in the old walls of the house is up to a bloodthirsty act of revenge...

What you should know

Where even good haunted house horrors like CONJURING or INSIDIOUS don't get by with the necessary Hollywood polish, WE ARE STILL HERE convinces with its unflinching lack of frills. This is straightforward and grounded horror, atmospheric haunted house ambience and great 70s flair without much fancy, but all the more to the point. And fans of a harder pace will also get their money's worth in the furious final third. What more could you want?

Direction

WE ARE STILL HERE marks Ted Geoghegan's first time in the director's chair for a feature-length film, having previously appeared primarily as a screenwriter and producer. His fondness for the horror cinema of the 70s and 80s is noticeable in every shot of the film, which is why the film attracted the attention of connoisseurs of the genre as well as some critics. And Geoghegan himself must also have tasted blood, because the path to his next directorial work was not far away.

Our guests at the film screening

Ted Geoghegan

Remember nine years ago when we presented WE ARE STILL HERE as the opening film and German premiere? Well, it's back again! And with US director Ted Geoghegan as our guest. We're dedicating our Directors Spotlight to him in 2024 and can't wait to be frightened by the eerie haunted house film again. And for those who want more: There are also two other feature-length films (MOHAWK and BROOKLYN 45) that the director has shot and written in the meantime.
