That is what it is about

Blaze is 13 years old and when she witnesses a violent crime, her perfect world begins to shake. Unable to talk about it, she retreats more and more into her shell. To a place she shares with a dragon that offers her protection. When the alleged perpetrator is tried, no one believes the frightened girl. Torn by the feeling of not being understood, Blaze reaches her childish limits. Will her dragon be able to burn down the walls of isolation?

What you should know

Rarely has trauma been so heartbreaking and colorful at the same time: pulsating neon lights, sequins and glitter. A patchwork dragon cobbled together from various rugs, evoking memories of DAVE MADE A MAZE and WO DIE WILDEN KERLE WOHNEN. A Falkor in Drag. BLAZE finds a magical-realistic approach to a subject that is basically hard to put into words, namely the feeling of helplessness... although there is a blaze (eng.: "blaze") in one's heart.

Direction

Del Kathryn Barton was born in Australia in 1972. For her feature film debut, the director was able to recruit well-known actors. Simon "THE MENTALIST" Baker and Yael Stone (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) give BLAZE star appeal. But the drawing card of this unconventional coming-of-age drama remains the young Julia Savage (MR. INBETWEEN), who gives a breathtaking performance. BLAZE is a film that encourages you to raise your voice against sexual violence... Always and everywhere in the world!
