That is what it is about

Enrico and Thomas have become estranged after the death of their beloved mother and partner. Even Barbara, the youngest of the family, is unable to repair this. Enrico slips away. Where to, no one knows. And then there is the eternal rain and a mysterious mist that rises from the sewers. Those who breathe it in are haunted by hallucinations that incite murder and suicide. Chaos breaks out in the city and good citizens become brutal beasts. Unstoppable hatred seeps into the families.

What you should know

Most recently, THE SADNESS has impressively proven: Man's greatest enemy is man himself. Well, the comparison is lame. Because if you expect an infection horror with zombie-like creatures in FLOWING, then you are wrong with this gloomy viewing pleasure. The Italian insider tip comes along atmospherically to the cutting close. It shakes our emotions, asks questions about loss and guilt... and it pulls us down into its dark vision of society. The surprise of the year!

Paolo Strippoli was born in Italy in 1993 and works as a director and screenwriter. He became known through the horror film A CLASSIC HORROR STORY, produced for Netflix, which - contrary to the title - turned out not to be "classic" at all. In contrast to works that pant after the past heyday of Italian genre cinema without pause, Strippoli dares to tread new and entirely original paths. And these are exciting, courageous and extremely worth seeing.

Our guests at the film screening

Paolo Strippoli

In the viewing phase FLOWING aka PIOVE was not just any film, but THE surprise. Genre cinema from Italy is dead? No way! Paolo Strippoli is the living proof to the contrary and he certainly knows something to say about what it means to step out of the shadows of Italy's big names to become one himself. And we will listen!

Audience Award

Flowing was voted 3rd place (4.13 points) in the feature length category by our audience at the HARD:LINE Festival 2023.

The evaluation was based on a five-point system (1 = Nope!, 5 = Yeah!).
