Warren doesn't have too much to laugh about in his life: Alcohol, serious problems with the local drug cartel and, finally, the news that his recently deceased Mexican sweetheart has left behind an illegitimate child. Travelling south, he stays in the once thriving desert town of Bedford Flats. Luckily, there's the big town hunting festival going on, which brings a little life to the boring little town... too bad Warren has been chosen as the prey.
At first glance, this blackly humorous thriller is a simple variation on a popular genre motif, in which nasty creeps prey on uninformed strangers. HAPPY HUNTING, however, goes the decisive step further and embeds its bloody parforceride in a politically thought-out framework. Combined with breathtaking camerawork and a top-notch sound design, it is little wonder that HAPPY HUNTING has become an absolute festival hit!
