That is what it is about

Frank Zito has to do it. Night after night, the young mannequin restorer roams the streets, always on the hunt for new female victims, whom he mercilessly kills. One day he meets the charming photographer Anna, who takes an interest in his work and for whom he develops special feelings. Frank makes a decision: she should be his.

What you should know

Yes, the slasher has really had little to offer lately apart from a few irrelevant variations and a lot of rehashed stuff. All the more reason to take a look at this horror highlight of last year. With surprisingly explicit outbursts, magnificent images and a consistent narrative perspective, MANIAC knows well how to draw the viewer into its evil spell. Moreover, Khalfoun's horror thriller fascinates with a convincing Elijah Wood, whose boyish appearance is stylised into the epitome of horror.

Direction

Director Franck Khalfoun already proved with his successful debut P2 - SCREAMS IN THE PARK HOUSE that the horror genre suits him. His third film MANIAC is a very independent reinterpretation of the 80s slasher classic of the same name, based on a script by Alexandre Aja (HIGH TENSION, PIRANHA 3D), the latest enfant terrible of French cinema. Khalfoun is currently finishing his mystery drama I-LIVED.
