That is what it is about

At the height of the War of 1812, the indigenous peoples of America are caught between the fiercely fighting fronts. A small group led by the Mohawk Oak and Calvin and the Englishman Joshua side with the British. In order to hold their own against the US troops, a sensible plan is needed. However, when the impulsive Calvin decides one night to assassinate soldiers at an American outpost, a merciless game of cat-and-mouse soaked in a thirst for revenge is unleashed.

What you should know

My dear swan! If there's one thing MOHAWK doesn't do, it's flinch. This raw and relentless western-horror-thriller mixture knows only one direction: straight forward! And even when the last drop of blood seems to have been spilled, MOHAWK doesn't stop there and sends the audience straight to hell with a clanging synth soundtrack. A well-performing cast and political tips are the icing on the cake in this little genre gem.

Direction

Two years after WE ARE STILL HERE, Ted Geoghegan ventures into a dark chapter of American history and takes a different approach to his ghost shocker. Together with co-author Grady Hendrix, they have fulfilled their desire to realize a historical story about marginalized people. Nevertheless, on closer inspection it becomes clear that Geoghegan has already found his own recurring themes such as revenge and the threat to the homeland, which vary in a completely new way in MOHAWK.

Our guests at the film screening

Ted Geoghegan

Ted Geoghegan travels across the Atlantic to visit the Hard:Line Film Festival. We dedicate our Directors Spotlight of the year to him. But if you were there in 2015, you may already know him: back then, we screened WE ARE STILL HERE (his debut film as director) as the opening film and German premiere. We wanted more of the eerie and creepy haunted house film: now we've got it: get ready for revenge, action and goosebumps!
