That is what it is about

James has clairvoyant powers - and uses this quality for small-time crooks. When he is supposed to pick up diamonds for his client Sal, he suddenly foresees his own death over and over again and stumbles. On the run from Sal and his own fate, he seeks out his foster father Elliott and asks him for help. From him he learns that his seemingly predetermined fate lies much further in his past than he could have imagined.

What you should know

Mindfuck is nothing new and has been taken to the extreme by the best in the last 20 years. But if you think you've seen it all, you've come to the right place. For with VOLITION, the Smith brothers have succeeded in creating a reinterpretation of the genre that is both affectionate and wacky and that will thrill fans of knotted brain twists and newcomers alike. VOLITION won the award for best film at the Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival in Santa Ana in 2019.

Direction

South African brothers Ryan and Tony Dean Smith live and work in Vancouver. As children, the two made up stories, which Tony filmed with his father's video camera and Ryan acted out. Today Ryan is a writer for film and television. Tony Dean specialises in genre films and works regularly for South African sci-fi director Neill Blomkamp.
