That is what it is about

Go to the idyllic lake in summer and enjoy the time. That was the plan. But it's not just his parents' divorce that clouds Ben's holiday, the strange neighbours don't exactly help the good mood either. They were never quite kosher, but the way they are behaving now... there is something wrong. His adventure as a scout king with binoculars soon turns into a bitter struggle for survival. You just don't interfere in the affairs of a millennia-old witch.

What you should know

Retro charm with modern means. Yes, the Pierce Brothers know how to mix classic material from REAR WINDOW to THE LOST BOYS with modern visual habits. In doing so, they literally feast on the potential of an underrepresented creature of fantastic shadow worlds. Witches are rare in horror cinema; however, they have never come across as fresh, creepy, amusing and yet brute. THE WRETCHED is thrilling genre cinema with an iconic sophistication that is simply fun to watch and can make high waves.

Direction

The directing and writing duo Brett and Drew Pierce, or simply the "Pierce Brothers", let their second feature film off the leash with THE WRETCHED. Their debut was the zombie buddy comedy DEADHEADS. It is rumoured in critics' circles that this film is now their ascent into the top genre league. With THE WRETCHED, they are embarking on a worldwide triumphant march in the genre festival world from Toronto and when they are done celebrating it, we look forward to more from their pen.
