That is what it is about

It takes time to get used to a new house. But actually Ed and Sarah really like their new place in the Scottish countryside. Unlike in the city, there's just peace and quiet and togetherness here. Just what the two need! But soon Sarah can't shake the feeling that someone else is in the house... And the intruders make no secret of the fact that the two are not welcome here. For Ed and Sarah, this night becomes a fight to the death!

What you should know

As a referendum horror, WHITE SETTLERS has made waves and indeed the politically highly controversial subtext is able to bring debate to the tableau. In doing so, it skilfully breaks genre conventions to make its stance clear. And yet: WHITE SETTLERS is a home invasion thriller of the harder kind, without falling into the splatter trap. It's all about pure suspense, told at a fast pace, continuously tickling our instincts. A fine piece of terror cinema!

Direction

Simeon Halligan studied art and design at the Royal College of Art in London. Since 1997 he has worked on various TV productions as art director or production designer. But he soon developed a desire to make films himself and started out in the classic way with short films. His first works were not necessarily pure genre films. In 2010, he completed his first feature film, SPLINTERED, which sold well internationally and established him as an interesting name.

Our guests at the film screening

Simeon Halligan, Rachel Richardson-Jones

At the second screening, the director from Manchester, who is in the spotlight, was also available to answer questions from the audience. Producer Rachel added to the exciting Q&A! Together they were also open to critical questions regarding the interpretation of the film. This film discussion at the relatively early hour of the festival was very enlightening!
