That is what it is about

The bare prairie. A column. The cargo? People. Panic spreads across the truck bed. Their hopeless situation seems to be related to a failed human experiment. Resisting hardly seems to make sense, as the sadistic commander and his armed bloodhounds brutally punish any unwanted action. Nevertheless, Arvin and Ejla manage to escape... But the escape comes to an abrupt end and ends in a metre-deep pit from which there is no escape.

What you should know

A hundred genre fans go to the cinema to watch an Azerbaijani horror film. You can't make that up! But APORIA deserves it, because once you get into it, things take off. Yet this unassuming film is a strange genre hybrid, swinging freely between zombie movie and claustrophobic horror á la BURIED. But what's even more impressive is that Rec Revan manages to nail the audience to the edge of their seats with ease, and in any case with a wink.

Direction

Rec Revan comes from Azerbaijan. At the tender age of ten, he was already making films together with his friends. Today, the 32-year-old is really hitting the big time with his special effects. They are not expensive, but enormously effective. Before APORIA, he had released two short films in a similar vein. Visually and thematically. In them, he illuminates the dangerous regions of his home country. The shadows of war and the horror that creeps into one's own four walls.
