That is what it is about

Frank and Zed are walking corpses. Terribly ugly, but still alive! The reason for this is their efficient shared flat. In order for their rotten bodies to function, they have to regularly patch each other up. The two waverers gladly accept the fact that they need fresh meat for this. But when a magistrate from the nearby village incites the citizens to storm Frank and Zed's castle ruin, the eerie idyll is over. An ancient prophecy is at hand: the blood orgy.

What you should know

Puppets and horror, wasn't that something? Sure, Peter Jackson's insanity MEET THE FEEBLES shaped the "genre" and stood alone for a long time. But now, with Jesse Blanchard, a colleague comes around the corner and puts the crown on the whole thing. Because here no body part remains on the other, no skull is too good not to be split in two. Blanchard's hand puppet madness is a mishmash in front of the Lord and also perhaps the most charming thing the common gorehound will see this year.

Direction

If you wanted to describe Jesse Blanchard with a song, it would probably be "Master of Puppets" by Metallica. The director takes the cinematic craft literally and makes the hand puppets dance. Back in 2011, he showed what matters to him with his short film SHINE 3D: handmade effects, black humour and lots of fake blood. While the three-minute short film madness was shot within two months, the production of FRANK & ZED took a whole six years.
