Mother Suzanne and daughter Ella are working together on a project, a stop-motion film with creepy miniature clay figures. Suzanne directs with a strict hand. After her mother falls into a coma, Ella wants to finish the short film on her own. Her mother's perfectionism, which still weighs heavily on her shoulders, makes it difficult to work. Ella threatens to break under the pressure. Then comes the saving idea: the Ashman, a boogyman made of raw meat! A brilliant idea or the first signs of madness?
Perfectionism and pressure to perform. Burnout and sleep paralysis. Nightmarish intermediate worlds like in THE CELL. Creepy plasticine figures reminiscent of Lynch or the music videos of "Tool". A woman who psychologically loses the ground beneath her feet, as in BLACK SWAN or ANTICHRIST. These are all important set pieces. But it is the impressive performance of lead actress Aisling Franciosi (THE NIGHTINGALE) that makes the film a masterpiece. A very bloody masterpiece. A must-see!
