That is what it is about

Parker is plagued by a past full of violence. When the young woman closes her eyes in the evening, sleep is out of the question. Too many demons make her life a sleepless hell. So she turns to a psychotherapist - once again. She has to face her demons, he says. So far, so good. But how can she defeat her "boogeyman"? Step by step, the two get closer to each other and their fears... but unimaginable horror lurks in the depths of ourselves.

What you should know

There are these little films that come at you from behind after a visit to the cinema and bite into your brain. Films that grow in complexity with every thought. THE PARKER SESSIONS is a nightmare filmed in consistent black and white, in which not only the dark visions of the protagonist seem extremely "off". Even in the polished dialogue work, this indie exudes a nihilistic charm rarely seen on screen. Marvel it ain't. But who wants that.

Direction

At the age of 12, he preferred building haunted houses in the basement to selling sodas outside. However, panic attacks, nightmares and suicidal thoughts already plagued the young Stephen King Simmons. In his first feature film, THE PARKER SESSIONS, he processed many of his most personal experiences. Some of the dialogue comes from conversations he had with therapists. It is clear that his debut work breathes the dark breath of his idols Lars von Trier and Yorgos Lanthimos in every second.
