Day, a day labourer, wants to relax in the cool water after a strenuous advertising shoot in the swimming pool. But he doesn't know that a colleague has already pulled the plug. When he wakes up on his air mattress, he has already sunk almost to the bottom. Climb out? Not a chance. To make matters worse, an escaped crocodile turns up, thinking the empty pool is the ideal breeding ground. The turf war begins and Day has to get creative if he wants to get out alive.
Director Ping Lumphapleng came across a pool 12 years ago while location scouting, wondering what it would be like to be trapped in the empty pool - and whether you could get out again. The result is a minimalist and enormously effective survival thriller with absurd laughs and nerve-wracking suspense. THE POOL is Lumphapleng's first internationally acclaimed film, and also his first horror film, but it draws on his flair for comedic timing.
