That is what it is about

Marty and Sally are what are commonly called "nerds" and they live in a world full of monsters: small, big, bored, evil, crazy, nice, ruthless... monsters. What else is left for the gifted comic artist and the gadget inventor but to make common cause? Sally's monstrous parents are the biggest problem. Marty decides to rescue Sally from their clutches - even if it means the secret lover makes room for a competitor!

What you should know

"A completely normal love story", say the makers, and they couldn't be more wrong. SAVING SALLY is a gem of fantastic cinema that took twelve years to make and fought every conceivable problem. What emerged is an interweaving of live-action film and animation the likes of which have never been seen before: visually refreshing with straight-out superior aesthetics, the story of poetic beauty and swooningly charming its protagonists. Rarely has nerddom been so recommendable!

Direction

Avid Liongren discussed a first concept for SAVING SALLY with his school friend Charlene Sawit-Esguerra as early as 2000. Against all odds, the two set out to realise the project and began in 2004. In addition to SAVING SALLY, Avid also directed his short films MOMO and JOSEPHINE and produced several music videos and commercials that reflect his nerdy comic humour. Avid is a "visual artiste extraordinaire! ...naire! ...naire! ...naire!"
