Just a few days ago, we delivered the first six feature-length films to you free of charge and, as a treat, put together the short film blocks for you. As if that wasn't enough, we also dropped our pants and, tadaaaaa, presented the jury. Now, it is admittedly quite difficult to refrain from making Easter jokes at this point. But this post isn't here to beat the joke pan around your ears either (at least not superficially), but to let the next movies out of the bag. No, that's not an intended cross-reference to the Easter jokes I just mentioned either. We remain serious. After all, we're not at curling.
Let's not... Let's take a look at the films instead.
BUNOHAN
The visual habits expanding Gerne-Clash full of poetry and symbolism. As picturesque as it is pessimistic, as captivating as it is unwieldy. A brilliant introduction to the cinematic oeuvre of Dain Said.
Malaysia 2011 | 97 minutes
Director: Dain Said
HUNT HER, KILL HER
This breathless cat and mouse game doesn't dwell on explanations, but offers suspense horror at its best from the first to the last second. Thrilling, nasty and very entertaining!
USA 2022 | 89 minutes
Director: Greg Swinson, Ryan Thiessen
PELICAN BLOOD
A dark horror drama that shimmers in the darkest colors. An A24-like version of SYSTEMSPRENGER? No. And yes! What is clear, however, is that the international praise is more than deserved.
Germany 2019 | 121 minutes
Director: Katrin Gebbe
SMOTHER
Fear is the root of all evil. But what if this root feeds the whole family tree? Then the evil is all evil... and perhaps the best German-language genre film of the year.
Austria 2023 | 90 minutes
Director: Achmed Abdel-Salam
THE LEECH
Devilish party in the rectory! A pitch-black and extremely blasphemous pleasure that tests the piety of moviegoers and whistles at everything. Let the festival begin!
USA 2022 | 82 minutes
Director: Eric Pennycoff
THE OUTWATERS
Hallucinogenic found footage trip at the limits of the genre. With brute soundscapes and maximum mindfuck, this film is a disturbing assault on the senses. Old folder, what a ride!
USA 2022 | 110 minutes
Director: Robbie Banfitch
