What an exciting year! We saw many great films. But we also had to deal with the adversities of the festival organisation. In short: we experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. Will we get the film? Will all the partners cooperate? How will we finance the next edition? What about guests for the panel discussion? Which band should play? Have we already talked to possible locations for the closing night and the after-show parties?

There are certainly many possible answers to all these questions. We believe we have found good answers. But how good they really are in the end, we will only see after the festival. The fact is, we've done everything we can to put together a unique programme for you... and, wow, there really is some top-notch genre cinema out there that we want to show you!

Once again, last year's success has contributed to our desire to expand. Two cinemas are now being used. A second section has been created. We not only want to present six of the absolute highlights of the coming season in the "Spotlights", but also show the four best indies that we were allowed to marvel at and programme for the "Perspective". Three German premieres join three European premieres. That makes us very proud!

We have strong partners on board for this: the scene magazine "Zündfunk" of the Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deadline Magazine and Scary-Movies.de as media partners provide the appropriate accompaniment. Funding from the city of Regensburg and the Oswald Zitzelsberger Art and Culture Foundation have played a big part in what will happen in Regensburg at the end of September. But also the many advertising and location partners, as well as presenters and friends, contribute to the successful outcome.

So finally, for the third time, it's time to enjoy a weekend of "cinema extreme" in Regensburg. But a festival would be nothing without its audience. You are everything - this third HARD:LINE Festival is for you. So enjoy yourselves!

Guests present at the screening

Our festival guests

Corinna Bachmann, Andy Fetscher, Michael Rousselet, Jon Salmon, Marcus Stiglegger

For the first time in the history of HARD:LINE, guests visited us to present their films in Regensburg. Further guests could be won for the exciting panel discussion, which united the most diverse perspectives and positions.

Michael Rousselet and Jon Salmon are two of the three directors of DUDE BRO PARTY MASSACRE III, and their long journey from the States was promptly rewarded with the Audience Award in the "Perspective" section.

Corinna Bachmann visited us during the panel discussion. She was an honorary assessor on the board of the BPjM. Since then, she has been a legal officer at the Federal Review Board and at the same time a federally appointed examiner at the FSK.

The filmmaker's perspective was taken by Andy Fetscher, who made his debut and attracted attention with his film BUKAREST FLEISCH. Fetscher's first international film URBAN EXPLORER celebrated strong festival appearances worldwide.

The discussion was rounded off by Marcus Stiglegger, whose film studies perspective enriched the round. Stiglegger is a familiar name to fans, bridging the gap between pop culture and science.

Party

Aftershow party

Friday: Andreasstadel Why go far when the good things are so close? Also out of consideration for the residents in Stadtamhof, we have decided to celebrate the after-show party on Friday in the festival centre. Here we will be returning to the Akademiesalon in the Andreasstadel and when you come out of the cinema you will already be in the middle of the action. Grab a beer at the bar and nothing stands in the way of an entertaining evening. Together you can talk about what you've seen, or simply party until the wee hours of the morning!

Antonio Borelli and his team will provide you with everything your thirsty soul desires and set the scene for a decent party. Where normally we dine in a great ambience, we'll party with you for all you're worth!

DJ Ä Of course, the background music must not be missing and so we are happy to have DJ Ä at the turntables again this year, a music virtuoso who knows and appreciates everything that is good. Once again, he will set the scene and - we are quite sure - ensure a successful after-show party. Musically, he has been influenced by Primus, Devo, Van Halen, Amon Düül II, The Stranglers and Slayer.

Saturday: Klappe The small pub in Stadtamhof was full to bursting last year when we were able to celebrate both after-show parties at the Klappe. The team put in an incredible effort and didn't just wow us. From a special menu for the festival guests to blood-red schnapps shots, everything was there. No sooner had the thirsty and hungry fellows entered the Klappe than a DJ provided the necessary background music. This evening was fantastic and so there was no question for us that we want to celebrate there again this year. Thanks to the Klappe for being on board again this year! Of course, the team will be looking after you again and will come up with all kinds of surprises. Let's see what they come up with this year. In any case, it will be just as exciting and entertaining as last year. So come in large numbers and celebrate with us.

Shake This year, we have a woman on the turntables who won't let her hair down. Her ear, trained on all varieties of rock and metal, will guide you through a night you will thoroughly enjoy. Many know Shake from the Apothecary and the Tiki Beat, where she always puts her musical flair to good use. We are delighted to have her at the Klappe this evening. Bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Manowar, Kyuss, Iron Maiden and Mötley Crüe are house numbers that clearly define DJ Shake's musical understanding. Rock on!

Panel discussion

Panel discussion 2015

Violence in the media polarises, that much is clear. But what are the positions and who represents them? We wanted to approach questions like these last year. It quickly became clear that this topic is as broad as it is diverse. The brutality of violent bombers staged in the media plays just as much a role in this debate as the discussion about so-called killer games. We want to make our contribution to this complex of topics and take a closer look at our own subject this year. Film and violence are a very successful pair in film history. It has produced classics that make cineastes click their tongues. But it is also responsible for extremely debatable excesses that cross the moral line even for many a horror fan - and no, we're not even talking about the filming of real violence.

Our festival is located in the middle of this field of tension. Extreme cinema loves films that are hard on the edge of the tolerable, take up pop-culturally important points of view, but whose symbolism is debatable. We screen films that can be downright shocking to an unsophisticated viewer and yet are highly appreciated by critics worldwide. Contributions with critical positions on politics are ostracised because they cross aesthetic boundaries, which can ultimately even lead to a total ban. Above all, there is the question: Is it allowed? We have to talk about that! And we invite you to talk about it with us.

Guests: Corinna Bachmann (BPjM), Andy Fetscher (director), Marcus Stiglegger (film scholar). Moderation: Christian Schiffer.

Final concert

Final concert 2015

We wanted to do something completely different to end our festival. That's why we moved to pubs in the city in the last two years to celebrate the last evening of the festival in style. Outstanding live bands from the Regensburg scene and wonderful surprise films created a unique atmosphere. In the pub cinema with a great audience and a terrific atmosphere, everyone went home with the unique feeling that they had spent a good weekend! So, let's do it again!

You can listen to Schlager at home! This trio is loud and they have to be - so let's do them a favour and turn the Tiki Beat upside down. With their passionate snot rock, SICK SICK not only whip the audience's spirits to unimaginable heights, but also make references like Lemmy look pale. But attitude is far from the three of them. Front woman Heike, guitar hero Gurke and drum roll Pablo are always likeable, a team with incredible energy. Go there and find it awesome!

Film Exchange

Film Exchange 2015

Collecting and discovering small treasures are things that make the fan's heart beat faster. That's why many hundreds of people make the pilgrimage to DVD and BluRay exchanges that take place all over the country. In Regensburg, too, the organisers are regular guests in the RT Hall on the upper Wöhrd. We think that's great! That's why we sat down with those responsible and tried to bring such an event to the festival for you. Together we looked for and found a way to offer this treasure trove a place in the Andreasstadel.

It is only thanks to the generous support of the Oswald Zitzelsberger Art and Culture Foundation that we are able to invite exhibitors and vendors to the upper hall of the Künstlerhaus to offer you collectors' items, rarities and specialities. But even better, thanks to the support of the foundation, admission to the festival is free of charge.

Come - seek - find!
